THEATRE CLASSES-

YOUTH THEATRE PROGRAM - age 6-9

 Sing, Dance, Act, SHINE! Learn all about the stage! The elementary program exposes students to

many aspects of the theatrical performing arts and is a wonderful experience and outlet for all children.

Self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, and creativity are all developed as students explore the

wonders of the STAGE!! 

Theatre Arts 1 - age 6 - 7          Theatre Arts 2 - age 7-9     Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm 

Children will explore the basics of stage direction, acting, stage presence, character development, improvisation, and imaginative play in a safe and supportive environment.  Children build self-confidence and awareness through a series of exercises, games, and collaborations.  Students will also explore puppetry, costume design, and storytelling.  This is a wonderful program for all children to let their creative voice shine.

JUNIOR THEATRE PROGRAM - age 8-13

For the emerging actor in all of us. These classes begins to introduce students to the philosophies of the stage. Channel creative energies through weekly experiences that help build self-awareness and confidence. Imaginations run wild and children benefit from the structured learning environment that puts their creative thoughts first! The Theatre Program offers the opportunity to study acting/improvisation concepts, musical theatre, theatre arts and design. Students will also have much stage time and learn the ins and outs of performing, including rehearsal readiness, theatre etiquette, and audition preparedness.

Acting 3 - age 8-11    Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm 

Children will explore the basics of stage direction, acting, stage presence, character development, improvisation, and imaginative play in a safe and supportive environment.  Children build self-confidence and awareness through a series of exercises, games, and collaborations. 

Theatre Arts 3  - age 8-11    Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm 

Theatre Arts 3 explores the world of Theatre Making and Design.  Students explore all that happens behind the curtain from Directing, Stage Management, Costuming, Stage Make-up, Producing, Set Design, and Lighting and Sound Design.  Students also engage with Puppetry, Mask-Making and Storytelling.

Musical Theatre 3 - age 8-11  Tuesdays 6:00-7:00

SING! DANCE! ACT! SHINE!  Students will immerse into the world of BROADWAY where they will study various Broadway shows and learn music and choreography from select titles.  Musical Theatre students will have a blast as they spend their time learning new music and dance, stage presence, performance skills and foundational performance theories. 

Theatre Arts 4 - age 10-13     Mondays 4:00-5:00pm 

Theatre Arts 4 examines the world of Theatre Making and Design.  Students explore all that happens behind the curtain from Directing, Stage Management, Costuming, Stage Make-up, Producing, Set Design, and Lighting and Sound Design.  Students also engage with Puppetry, Mask-Making and Storytelling.

Acting 4 - age 10-13     Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm 

Students intensely explore acting methods, stage presence, character development, improvisation, and imaginative play in a safe and supportive environment.  Students build self-confidence and awareness through a series of exercises, games, and collaborations.  Junior level theatre classes allow students to holistically engage the mind and body, while making connections to theory and improvisational impulse.

Playwriting  4 - age 10-13     Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm 

Students work with the foundations of creative writing and play structure.  Members of the class devise work in a collaborative setting / share / gain feedback and inspiration / workshop ideas and concepts / plays will be performed at a later date by students and community of The Complex

Musical Theatre 4 - age 10-13  Thursdays 7:00-8:00pm

Musical Theatre class is an exploration of American Musical Theatre. Students will study the work of the actor/singer/dancer and use their gained knowledge to develop as performers. Students will prepare and present as soloists as well as members of small groups and larger ensembles.  Students will also gain tools for audition preparation.

TEEN THEATRE PROGRAM - age 13+

Teen Theatre classes are intensive and inspiring.  Students deeply engage with technical approaches, historical context, various methods, and prominent artists.  The Teen Program is comprehensive in its curriculum, giving students the opportunity to explore theatre as actor, director, designer, producer, writer, and technician.  

• Musical Theatre 5/6 - age 13+     Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm 

Musical Theatre teens and seniors split their time between musical concepts and competency, and an exploration of musicals through choreography and design. Understanding music in the written form is a crucial skill for a performer, as is understanding the many layers of artistry within any show. This class surveys American Musical Theatre and the various movements within the genre.

• Acting 5/6 - age 13+     Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm 

Students explore acting methods, stage presence, character development, improvisation, directing, and stage management.  Students build self-confidence, awareness and personal voice  through a series of exercises, explorations, and collaborations.  Students will unpack their own philosophies of self to allow a strong personal foundation to work from.

• Playwriting 5/6 - age 13+     Saturdays 9:00-10:00am 

Students will learn and expand upon the foundations of creative writing and play structure.  Members of the class will devise work in a collaborative setting / share / gain feedback and inspiration / workshop ideas and concepts / plays will be performed at a later date by students and community of The Complex

Theatre Arts 5/6 - age 10-13     Saturdays 10:00-11:00pm 

Theatre Arts 5/6 examines the world of Theatre Making and Design.  Students explore all that happens behind the curtain from Directing, Stage Management, Costuming, Stage Make-up, Producing, Set Design, and Lighting and Sound Design.  Students also engage with Puppetry, Mask-Making and Storytelling.

Students enroll for the full season (prorated if beginning late) unless class is otherwise noted.

Tuition rates are for all genres of Arts Classes.  Students may enroll in multiple genres for the tuition price listed.

45 Minute Class - $70 per month
1 Hour Class - $75 per month
2 Hours per week - $140 per month
3 Hours per week - $185 per month
4 Hours per week - $220 per month
5 Hours per week - $245 per month
6+ Hours per week - $250 per month

Private Music - $35 per 30 minute lesson
