AUDITIONS!

The Complex announces open auditions for local and non-local dancers to be a part of a Holiday extravaganza at The Loos Center in Woodstock this December. Auditions are by video submission. Video Audition - please submit one minute of jazz technique and one minute of jazz choreography. Include one minute of tap if you would like to be considered for tap sectionsThis event is open to ALL DANCERS!

Rehearsals will take place Summer 2024, with subsequent rehearsals in the Fall leading up the show. The plan is to choreograph the show over the Summer and have minimal rehearsals in the fall. We understand dancers have busy schedules and plan to work around your commitments.

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH​

• Auditions are held on August 12 and 14 from 6:00-8:00
• Those auditioning should pre-register for their date or choice
and plan to stay for 2 hours
• Please prepare 32 - 64 measures of music and provide backing track
• Prepare a one-minute or less monologue if you would like to be
considered for a featured role
• The auditions will include learning choreography and readings
James and the Giant Peach Character Breakdown
Ladahlord
A strange, magical storyteller. Often inserts himself into the story, in disguise, to help push the action forward.

James
A lonely young boy who lacks confidence. Having lost both his parents in a freak accident, he feels he belongs nowhere in the world. However, when given the right encouragement he becomes resourceful and innovative. A good friend.

Spiker
James' mean aunt. A thief and a scoundrel. Shrewd and opportunistic.

Vocal range bottom: F#3

Sponge
James' other mean aunt. Also a thief and a scoundrel, but not nearly as bright as her sister. Very corpulent, she often has her mind on food.

Spider
A normal spider who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. Her husband was killed and eaten by Spiker and Sponge. She is warm and friendly to James.

Green Grasshopper
A wizened grasshopper who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. An excellent musician. Has his eye on Ladybug.

Centipede
An ornery centipede who becomes human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. Hates humans, in part because Spiker and Sponge fumigated his family. Prickly and rude, everyone thinks he is a pest.

Ladybug
A motherly ladybug who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. Respectable and classy, she has a warm, caring heart. Has her eye on Grasshopper.

Earthworm
An earthworm who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. A bit of a scaredy-cat. He is neurotic and worried about everything, but is very friendly and brave when called upon.

re-imagine it every year!
We can't wait to welcome old and NEW cast members to the party!

The Rocky Horror Show Character Breakdown
USHERETTE/MAGENTA: (Range: Mezzo Soprano Belt, Bb3-Eb5)
One of Frank’s servants.
​
BRAD: (Range: Bari Tenor, Bb2-G4)
Quirky, but very much in love with his fiancé, Janet. Overly optimistic at times.
​
JANET: (Range: Mezzo Soprano Belt, A3-Eb5)
Good girl who is madly in love with Brad. Always seems to be frightened of something. Keeps losing more of her clothes throughout the story. Emotionally weak and caves into pressure easily.
​
NARRATOR: (Non-Singing Role)
Follows our two hero’s through the story by narrating directly to the audience.
​
RIFF RAFF: (Range: High Rock Tenor, D3-B4)
Creepy man resembling more of a zombie. Often makes harmless conversation seem awkward and foreboding. One of Frank’s servants.

COLUMBIA: (Range: Mezzo Soprano Belt, E4-E5)
One of Frank’s servants.
​​
FRANK-N-FURTER: (Range: Baritone, D3-G4)
Master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating a person to be part of his sexual entourage. Master of seduction.
​​
ROCKY: (Range: Tenor, A3-G4)
Frank’s magnificent creation.
​
EDDIE/DR. SCOTT: (Range: Baritone, E3-F#4)
Eddie, delivery man, “went to pieces.” Misses the rock and role of life. Comes back to life only to die after his solo. Scott is Eddie’s Uncle.
